Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know

What type of food does Kula Hawaiian Kitchen serve?

We serve upscale Hawaiian dishes prepared to order using quality ingredients. All of our sauces, dressings, and seasonings are created in-house. Our pork and salmon are smoked on-site, and our chicken is marinated for hours to develop deep, rich flavors. Signature dishes include kalua pork, mochiko chicken, ahi poke bowls, mahi mahi tacos, and teriyaki chicken.

Do I need a reservation?

Reservations are not required, but are recommended — especially for parties of five or more. You can book a table online or call us at (805) 519-8200.

Do you have vegetarian or vegan options?

Yes. We offer a variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes, including tofu poke bowls, Hawaiian flatbread, and our specialty — tofu dengaku, which is tofu coated in mochi rice flour, deep fried, and finished with our house-made miso glaze.

Is Kula Hawaiian Kitchen family-friendly?

Absolutely. We welcome families and offer a dedicated keiki (kids) menu for both lunch and dinner, with dishes like teriyaki chicken, mochiko chicken, chicken strips, and a kid's burger. High chairs are available.

Do you offer takeout or delivery?

Yes. You can order takeout directly from our website. We also deliver through DoorDash, Grubhub, and Uber Eats.

Is there parking available?

Yes. There is ample free parking behind the La Plaza building where we are located, as well as free street parking in front of the restaurant.

Do you have a happy hour?

Yes. Happy hour is available Tuesday through Sunday from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM, featuring drink specials and light bites.

Can I host a private event at Kula Hawaiian Kitchen?

Yes. For groups of up to 30, we can host your event in our tasting room. Larger groups of up to 50 can reserve the full restaurant. We will work with you to design a custom menu suited to any occasion — birthday parties, rehearsal dinners, corporate events, and more. Learn more about private events.

What drinks do you serve?

We offer beer, wine from our own Kula Vineyards, and specialty cocktails made with soju, a Korean distilled spirit. Popular cocktails include the Mango Refresher, Island Iced Tea, and Irish Velvet, made with Irish cream and chocolate liqueur.

What is the dress code?

The dress code is casual. Come as you are.

Are there gluten-free options?

Yes. Several items on our menu are gluten-free, and many other dishes can be made gluten-free with simple substitutions. For example, our mahi mahi tacos served with corn tortillas are gluten-free. Our poke bowl — one of our most popular dishes — can be prepared gluten-free by substituting tamari sauce for soy sauce.

What is the connection between Kula Hawaiian Kitchen and Kula Vineyards?

Kula Hawaiian Kitchen and Kula Vineyards & Winery are the same company, located at the same address. The restaurant and tasting room share the space, so when you dine with us you can enjoy award-winning Kula wines or our house-brewed craft beers with your meal. We do our best to make sure that every aspect of your experience at Kula is the best it can be.
